19th Century Barn Conversion

This 19th century derelict hay barn was the starting point for a beautiful barn conversion combining traditional oak beams with modern technology and ecological ideas.

Specialist items included zinc roofing systems, solar reflective glass panels featured in the sun room, underfloor heating, wetrooms, a woodburning stove to heat the water and oak flooring.

The project was featured in the local newspapers and highlighted the efforts Dudgeon Builders had made to find a perfect brick match for the 200 year old building, eventually sourcing the reclaimed bricks in Scotland!

A complete renovation was undertaken at Bridge Garth for Dr and Mrs Bonsar at their family home in Weeton. A large extension was added to include a state of the art kitchen, library, lounge, study and crafts room.

Underfloor heating was incorporated in the project along with a wood burning stove and sunfold sliding doors which opened all sides of the solar room into the landscaped gardens. This solar room featured argon filled K glass - a system that allows light in and retains the heat in winter and refracts the light and keeps the room cool in summer.

The project was entered by Dr and Mrs Bonsar in the 2008 FMB Masterbuilder of the Year competition and received the 'Highly Commended Award' for the outstanding workmanship displayed in their project.

Designed to help reduce congestion, carbon footprint and to provide a fast and direct service into Doncaster on the A638 is the Park and Ride site - part of the $1.8 million project for Doncaster Council and South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive.

Work included the creation of 400 car parking spaces, installation of drainage and boundary fencing. Also the construction of facilities including a ticket and security office, covered waiting areas with seating and litter bins, covered cycle racks, toilets and babychanging facilities.

When part of the original property was destroyed by a fire, an extension and renovation was undertaken to restore this city centre town house.

The work included building a new garage and store room, kitchen area and wetroom along with the total redesign of the outside terraces. The project incorporated solar panels and environmentally friendly Douglas Fir and exceeded all the conservationists requirements.

The owners of this old school house wanted a complete makeover of the original building and approached Lee to create a sympathetic yet striking new appearance.

As well as the new brickwork, the project also required new foundations, cavity insulation, windows and doors and a roof extension. Work carried on as normal, despite terrible weather conditions including heavy snow - which obviously impressed the client, Mr Wheatley who added the photographs of the snow covered roads, empty but for a fleet of Dudgeon Builders vehicles to his property management website. The heading simply read, "Dudgeon Builders - Finished on time and on budget."

A New Build Detached House

Having seen the high standard of work produced by Dudgeon Builders on our website, we were approached by the clients and asked if we would build for them a high specification detached house.

Having no plans in place, we had the drawings produced, planning permission granted and started on the development which took in total 16 weeks to build including landscaping and all external works.
